Chevrolet Repair: Engine turns over but there is no spark, chevy silverado, carborator

Question
I have an 1985 Chevy Silverado 2wd that used to have a 305 in it. The guy I bought it from had a 1979 350 put in it before I bought it. I replaced the heads and intake manifold and also the carborator. It ran before I rebuilt the top end but now I can't get the engine to fire. It turns over real good all day but I have no spark to the distributor or the motor. I have replaced the whole distributor(HEI) new, new cap and rotor, new coil, new plugs and wires, and the battery wire to the distributor reads 12+ volts. The rotor is pointing at #1 piston and engine is at TDC. What else could be keeping it from firing and how do I fix it?

Answer
Hi Vernon, You replaced everything in the dist but the module and pick up coil. The problem must be one of these 2 parts. You can test your pick up coil with a ohm meter, it should be 800 to 1500 ohms. Also pull on the wires to make sure the wire isn't broke inside.

Hope this helps
