Chevrolet Repair: 01 Sonoma wont start, fuel pump relay, fuse box

Question
Hi, Having start/running problems with my '01 Sonoma 4.3. Fuel pump not working! Most of the time it's when starting. The vehicle is running fine, turn it off then try to start it and the fuel pump is not ingaging. The odd time it stops running when driving. I'm on my 3rd new fuel pump in 6 months, replaced all cencors, relays and related components including ignition switch. I've noticed most of the time it's after fill up with fuel. Checked wire connections and grounding. Sometimes "Check engine" light comes on around the same time fuel low indictator comes on and goes out after fill up. Before I spend money on computer, thought I would ask you for advise.

Answer
Hi Benoit, This is not a computer problem as I have seen none. If the fuel pump isn't
coming on then I would look at the wiring and connections. If there is a loose connection in the fuel pump wiring maybe when they replace the pump the contacts get cleaned up some and it will run for a while. Be sure to check the contacts for the fuel pump relay under the hood in the fuse box. Sometimes the pins will back out of the fuse box and not make a good connection to the relay. I have also seen where the connector that connects to the fuel pump have becomes very loose and lose power to the pump. This could be your problem with all the pumps you have installed.
