Chevrolet Repair: 1990 suburban wont start, gas tank, money

My truck wont start.  I am getting no fuel into the fuel injecter, and have replaced the filter. I hear a click by the gas tank when the key is turned but not sure if its the pump.  What should i check before replacing the pump.  Dont want to spend the money on a pump if it's something else.  Thank you

You should be able to hear the pump in the tank buzzing for about three seconds when the key is turned to run.
Try laying under the truck, and just as someone turns the key on, smack the bottom of the tank. I have seen this jar a pump into working, but would expect to be replacing the pump before long.
