Chevrolet Repair: Coolant, heater cores, coolant

Question
What do you know about extended life coolant? I'm running it in all my vehicles. Is it best to change at 5 yrs or just leave it as long as it checks OK. I heard Nissan warns against using long life (red) coolant. Whats the deal? Thanks

Answer
Hi Keith, This is only my opinion..... I don't like it!! It eats rubber( like your belt) and it causes heater cores to plug up. I guess it would be better if you change it every 2 years like the old stuff. I would change it at least ever 3 years in your trucks. If I had a choice I would use the old green coolant. Just my opinion remember..
