Chevrolet Repair: grinding noise, chevy cavalier, caliper

Question
I own a 1991 Chevy Cavalier and lately when I hit the brakes, I hear this loud grinding noise. I had the brakes replaced in January so it's hard to believe that it could be a brake problem.  I have been told that I need new struts or maybe an alignment.  Do you think this could be related to a strut problem? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Kristi, I would have the brakes looked at soon. The struts wouldn't make a noise when you hit the brakes, only the brakes would. You might have a sticking caliper that has caused the brakes to wear out so soon.

Let me know what they say
