Chevrolet Repair: Diesel motor, diesel motor, diesel engines

I just bought a 1988 chevrolet p-30 walk in step van with a 6.2 liter diesel. I need to know what type of oil and weight to use in. What is the gage on the dash that says filter minder air restricion mean. Also will a diesel motor run hotter.

Hi Allen, They make a oil just for diesel engines, be sure to use it. Weight...10w-30. I'm not sure on the filter minder but you might want to check the air filter, if it's not new install one. Diesels don't run hotter then gas engines, it's all done with the thermostat.
