Chevrolet Repair: 98 Malibu Coolant Leak, intake manifold gasket, coolant leak

Question
I am having problems with coolant leak on my 98 Malibu. I took it to two different shops for an inspection and one told me they could not find the leak, the other without looking at it told me it sounded like it needs the waterpump replaced and it would cost about 350.00 I have researched and found that other 98 Malibu owners have the same problem but no suggestions on what the problem is or how it should be fixed. I have had numerous problems with this car in the past 1.5 years since I bought it used; mostly brake problems. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you very much!

Answer
Hi Patty, This leak could be a waterpump or intake manifold gasket depending on which engine you have. If you have a 4 cylinder then the waterpump is the most common and does cost a lot. If it is a V6 engine then the intake gasket is the most common but I have seen both (waterpump) leak on the same engine. This job is also not cheap. Hope this helps you out!!

Let me know which one it is
