Chevrolet Repair: vaccum lines, carberators, chevy van

Question
I have 1977 chevy van that had a 305 v8 engine I replaced the engine with a 1984 350 v8 and the carberators were different the 305 had a two barrell carter and the 350 has a four barell I"m using the four barell but the vaccum lines are different. what I need to know is do I have to hook up the egr valve and where can I hook up the vaccum advance?

Answer
The engine will run fine without the EGR connected, and the vacuum advance should have a port on the carb just about even with the front edge of the main throttle plate when it is closed. If you get hold of the instruction sheet from a Jiffy kit for that carb, it should show which port for the advance. Or a Motors manual for the appropriate year.
