Chevrolet Repair: brake warning light, brake warning light, abs light

Question
Hi, I have a 1996 S-Blazer 4x4, 4.3L since new, about 90,000 miles on it now. The ABS system crashed on me a while back, dealer said it was two computer modules, plenty bucks, so we left ABS behend us and actually seemed to have better (much shorter and more positive) braking in almost all conditions. But ... the ABS light stayed on all the time. So today I tried to get it to turn off, first removed the "brake" fuse, but that wasn't connected to ABS. I finally removed the ABS light from the dash (actually I just crushed the little bulb, couldn't turn the bulb in its socket to remove it), fairly simple, or so I thought. Now the brake warning light comes on, flashes off once after about 3-4 seconds, and then stays on. I also had the emergency brake on hard (had to shift the lever down to low to get it out of the way to remove the dash cover on the guages), but the emergency brake is fully off now, it released all the way back. I think that since the ABS light is now not working, the brake warning light comes on in its place.  How can I get the ABS light off without the brake warning light turning on, is there something else I can safely disconnect or connect?  Is there a code to clear that won't return without fixing the ABS?  Thanks!

Answer
Hi M.,
You asked a lot of questions in a short space. But check the high mount stop light to make sure the bulb is good. i had that light come on like that in an Olds, and the cruise also wouldn't work, and the bulb fixed it all.I don't know any other secrets, but yes, that light not working could possibly cause the other to come on.
