Chevrolet Repair: chevy blazer oil pressure, us army mil, e mail address

Question
you have time, I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. I found a good deal on a 1993 chevy blazer but it has one major problem. After the truck warms up it starts to lose oil pressure (slowly) and a low knocking sound comes from the engine. This is the strange part though, when I pulled the dipstick, i swear the oil smelled like it had gas mixed in with it. Have you ever heard of this? The owner says that he thinks it needs a new injection system and it should clear it up. If the problem was something I could get fixed for 300-500$ I would by the truck. Any advice?
Thanks,
Barry

Answer
Hi Barry,
A complete injection system would be kinda extreme. A real dirty injector squirting gas into the cylinder can get gas into the oil past the rings, but an oil change and clean or replace the injectors should fix that. I am surprised there isn't a miss on that cylinder, though.
Removing the spark plugs should give an idea which cylinder it is, and then remove that injector for replacement or cleaning.
I would want to have them all tested out of the engine so the spray pattern could be looked at.
I am not sure if that year had a cold start injector in addition to the regular injectors, but if it does, that one needs checked also.
