Chevrolet Repair: AC repair, freon 134a, chevy blazer

Question
I have a '98 Chevy blazer and had an estimate yesterday for my air conditioning repair.  I was told I need a new compressor, accumulator, orifice tube, and new seals.  I was also told that labor would be about 5 hours.  Can you tell me approximately how much parts should cost and if this amount of labor is correct for this repair.

Answer
Hi Dawn,
I don't do custom work, so i don't know what they mark up, and how much.
I just replaced a compressor at work, and the compressor alone was around $300.00 after my commercial discount.
It is advisavle to replace those other parts, and also flush the system.
Those other parts I would expect to cost in the area of $200.00, but that is a guess, since I didn't need them.
That labor is probably pretty close.
Luckily, the freon....134A, that is used on that system is considerably cheaper than the old R12.  And a 88 model came from the factory with 134A, which os only about $3.00/Lb...as compared to about $30.00/Lb for R12.
If it is a place you trust, it sounds like they gave a pretty reasonable time frame, and the parts are about right.
If you don't know anything about the place, you might get another estimate.
Also, some refferences are a good idea for the quality of their work.
