Tires: tires sizes, nissan altima, stock tires

Question
Hi Barry I was considering on upgraded the wanli's to
Yokohama YK520
P205/50R-17 93V XL B
or
Yokohama YK520
P215/50R-17 93V XL B

Which would be better for the 98 nissan altima?  the stock tires were 205/60 R15 so i am not sure if i need to still stick with 205's or would it be best to go with the 215's.  What would the difference be in handling and performance?  Will the 215's cause any problem fitting on the vehicle also?
Thanks

Answer
John,

I can't answer the width question as I don't have acess to fitment guides other than what folks like Tire Rack have available, and they say only the 205/50R17 fits.

But I think you'll find the 205/50R17 is an Extra Load (XL) and the 215/50R17 is a Standard Load (SL).  Personally, I'd go with the SL's as you can use lower pressure to get the same load carrying capacity, which makes for a softer ride.

The net effect is that if the 215's fit, that's what I would use, but apparently they don't
