Chevrolet Repair: ignition and firing order, chevy s10, firing order

Question
I have a 1987 Chevy S10 and have recently done a tune up on it.  Oil change, new plugs, plug wires, distributor and rotor.  After tuning up the ignition system (although it was idling better than before) it had very little power and no punch of the start.
I figured it might be the timing but while doing that realized that I just did'nt have the distributor cap oriented correctly on the distributor.
In re-orienting the distributor I removed the wires from cylinder 2, 4, and 6 (drivers side from front to rear), turned the cap so that it sat correctly and then put the wires back on.

Now it won't start at all. Hm. I am pretty sure I put the wires back on the distributor in the same order.  They are on in order from 1 to 6 (clockwise).
Is this the right order?
Any ideas what else I may have done wrong?

Thank you for your time, I really apreciate this.

Answer
Hi Jer,
The earliest S10 book I have shows the #1 wire at the right front tower of the cap, or if standing in front of the vehicle, looking straight down at the cap from above, # 1 is about 5:00 o clock.
From there, going clockwise, the order is 1-6-5-4-3-2.

That would put them in order 1-2-3-4-5-6 COUNTER Clockwise, but the rotation of the rotor is clockwise, and that is the firing order.

The cylinders themselves are drivers side, front to rear, 1-3-5, and passengers side, front to rear, 2-4-6.
Hope that gets you running.
