Chevrolet Repair: timing, chevorlet, car repair

i have a 1984 1.6 chevorlet chovet i just put a new belt on and i cant get the car to run now i need to know how the timing sets on it .i have tryed everthing i know .please help me what does this cars timing set on

there should be a white bar or a number 1 on your new belt, now on top of the engine look for a mark or a series of lines that mean marks on a tab or on a part itself these are the timing marks, each time the belt number 1 passes the mark the number one cylnder should be a top dead center, which mean the athe car tells it to fire. after you get the first one set the other are already set. hope this help and GO BUY A CAR REPAIR MANUAL!!!!!!
