Chevrolet Repair: drum brakes, rear drum brakes, drum brakes

Question
Hi; i have a question regarding my 1988 Chevy S-10 two wheel drive pick up with the rear drum brakes.Last week i was looking at my drum brake shoes and i noticed that the passanger side most forward (primary) shoe was down into the rivets. The secondary shoe had at least a quarter of an inch of meat to it,as did the drivers side on both primary and secondary. What was strange was that the car doesnt pull while braking and that the most rear part of that primary shoe that was down to the rivet was also thick and healthy. What do you suspect as a culprit?

Answer
Hi Tom, Check to make sure that the E-brake cables are free and not sticking. Also with the shoes on move them at the bottom front to rear and make sure that the piston inside the wheel cylinder slides easy. If all is OK, then I would just install new shoes and turn the drums.
Maybe some drove with the E-brake on just a little and wore the shoe out.
