Chevrolet Repair: wiper problems, ac delco parts, torx screws

Question
Thanks Mark for speedy reply.I did everything manual says for removal or test of parts under hood, but there is no way to follow these instructions. The under hood method is nill because van engine compartment is completely sealed up with chassis framing.Looks like pro. help because only means for removal of parts would be through dashboard removal.Any other suggestions will be appreciated....Thanks again, Jerry------------------------

I have 1995 GMC 2500 vandura custom van that has wiper problems. The wipers have been erratic for sometime now, meaning they would only work when someone pressed washer switch and someone manually forced right side wiper to move at same time. Now the wipers will not move at all but washer pump works fine sometimes. Sounds like major expense or minor problem.I went to ac-delco parts supplier and he recommended checking wiper-washer module first because he has had feedback from chevy pick-up owners with same problem.Where would module be located and he said I would have to go to dealer for part? any help woul be appreciated--'cause it looks like rain today....Thanks,jerry

Hi Jerry, Yes these module go bad all the time. There is a bad solder at the point where the power go into the module. The module is located right on the wiper motor under the hood. It has 3 torx screws holding it to the motor. Some times if you wiggle the wires going into the wiper motor module with the wipers on it will begin to work. This is a dealer item, around 60 dollars.

Let me know how you make out       Mark

Answer
Hi Jerry, Your wiper motor might be in the dash. Let me look it up tomorrow and I'll get back to you.

Yes the wiper motor is located in the dash. It looks like you need a very good back to get at it. The module is mounted to it too.
