Chevrolet Repair: vibration during braking 93 1500, chevy 1500, rear brakes

Question
Mark, I have a 93 chevy 1500 v6, 280k, runs great, have heavy vibration during deceleration, just replace front brakes, rotors bearings, figured bout time, havnt checked rear brakes since redone 2yrs ago, replace left axle due to a run in with a high curb.. this bout 100k ago.  going to replace u-joints still orig, but noticed what looked like a pin going through the unclamped side, they still seem good but waitin till buddy comes over that knows how to do this stuff,  could this vibration be coming from u-joints only on braking at 60-45mph then goes away, rearend has amsoil and no metal in fluid.
does this sound like ujoints only or time to redo rearend. if so how serious to redo prior to heavy surf fishing season.
thanks
ron

Answer
Hi Ron, Well if you did the front brakes and still have a bad vibration when braking then it's time to do the rear too. The U joints will make a vibration but, if it only vibrates when your on the brakes then it's the brakes causing it. Note: that pin you see on the u joint is where GM injected nylon to hold the cap in. I use a torch to heat up the area to remove this so the u joint cap will come out easy.
