Answer -
Uhhhh, what airline do you work for?
Just kidding.
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
Left bank-front to rear= 1-3-5-7
Right bank-front to rear= 2-4-6-8
Distributor rotation clockwise
#1 plug wire almost directly toward front...slightly counterclockwise , or toward left front corner on distributor cap.
A manual can be looked at in the public library, refference section.
Also, most parts stores will let you look.

Check for vacuum leaks, and a dirty EGR valve.
Good luck,
Van

Answer
The EGR valve is usually on the intake manifold, or plenum, and connects the exhaust system to the intake.
They are all removable, and cleanable. It is actually a recommended scheduled maintenance item, and some vehicles have a service engine light come on at certain mileage intervals to remind you to do it.
