Chrysler Repair: 98 voyager 3.0 L: alternator

Good Day alternator very hot after 1-2min of running smells like overheating wires - battery light off yet no charging.
battery voltage 12.5 v engine off
Same voltage with engine running
I suspect something has overloaded alternator yet i use acessories sparingly

Hi Michel,
Try for a fault code readout using the ignition key: "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see if the mileage reading is replaced by a four-digit number preceded by a P. Let me know what you find.
If nothing comes from that approach then an analysis using a volt and amp meter will be necessary but that is a lengthy process and needs an amp meter. So see what comes from the fault code readout.
