Chrysler Repair: Cant Rev higher than about 2200 rpm and cruise control shuts off

Question
I have a 2005 dodge sx 2. 0 and it has been working great till about 2 months ago. It was riding nice until all of a sudden it boggs right down and I can no longer go past 2200 rmp and during this, if I try to hit the "CRUISE ON/OFF" button, the indicator light does not show up. Sometimes if I shut my car off and then back on again, the problem goes away. But sometime when I shut my car off and start it up again, it has to turn over way too many times before it finally starts and that problem is still there. So it is on and off so I haven't done much about it but now I'm sick and tired of it and I want to know what the problem is. Please help

I asked the question above and was told to get the code by turning the key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON and reading the codes. Well I did that and it read P0340 and P0325. What do I do now?

Answer
Hi Randy,
The 0340 says that the camshaft position sensor signal is not being 'seen' at the powertrain control module which is likely caused by a failed sensor and not the wiring. So I would buy a replacement sensor. It is located on the rear end of the cylinder head. You have to remove the air cleaner lid, the inlet air temp sensor plug, and the inlet air hose. Then remove the sensor screws and then the sensor. Install the new sensor and see if that corrects the problem. If not then look over the wires to it for possible damage.
The 0325 code is about the knock sensor and it too can be replaced. It is located on the side of the cylinder block, under the intake manifold and just in front of the starter motor. When replacing the sensor tighten the mounting bolt to 16 foot-pounds of torque and don't over/under tighten it for it to work properly and not be damaged. It's wiring should also be inspected.
But I would start with the cam sensor replacement.
Sorry for the delay but I just found your question in the "pool" to which it was referred by Kevin. Unfortunately you asked him after you got the codes instead of me.
