Motorcycle Repair: Honda 300 fourtrax electrical problem, fuse protection, battery cables

Question
My Battery went dead about 4 months ago, and I just kept on riding using my kick start. One day it died and left me on foot. I read my manual and found the fuses and replaced it. I also discovered that my battery cables were lose. I tightened the cables and it ran fine, till thursday. It blew the fuse again, so I decided to change the battery and replace the fuse. Now when I turn on the ignition switch it fries the fuse instantly! Did I kill the rectifier/regulator?

Answer
Hi Kyle,

Q:  "...Did I kill the rectifier/regulator?"

A:  The RR will need to be tested to know if it was damaged.

A direct short caused the fuse protection to blow. You'll have to find the short and repair it, or prevent it from happening again.

Check out the service manual. It has illustrated procedures for testing and repairing everything on the ATV.
