code P1496 5 volt supply output low what does this mean?

Hi Fred,
The 1496 says that the voltage of the 5V supply is below 4V. I would believe that there is either a short circuit in the 5 volt pink/yellow wire that runs from pin 61 of the powertrain control module to three sensors: the manifold absolute pressure sensor, the AC pressure sensor. and the throttle position sensor OR one of the sensors is bad.
The first thing to check would be a splice where that pink/yellow  wire is connected to the 3 wires that go to each of those sensors because that splice is very close to the exhaust pipe of the front cylinder bank where it crosses over to the rear of the engine and that may have melted some insulation of the wire and caused a short. Look between the spark coil pack's plug and the exhaust pipe below it to see if there is a wire harness that might have been damaged by heat.
If you don't find such a problem then I suggest that you go to those three sensors and check the voltage on the plugs of the sensors that carry the voltage after removing all three plugs.
For the AC sensor it is pin 2, and for the other sensors it is pin 3. If the voltage is low then trace the wires as far as you can to see if you can find some damage to the pink/yellow wire's insulation. If the voltage is 5 then there is no problem with the wires but rather one of the sensors is failing. Try plugging then in one at time while watching the voltage on the wire at one of the other disconnected plug to see if one of the sensors drags down the voltage. The one that does needs to be replaced. Let me know if you need help finding those sensors.
