Chrysler Repair: 1991 jeep cherokee lerado: speedometer inaccurate

My speedometer is off by 10 mph. i have to go 65 mph on the speedometer to go 55 mph. What is wrong with it?

Hi Jesse,
I don't have manuals for Jeep that far back so I have to guess. I wonder if the tire or wheel size has been changed since the vehicle was first sold? Other than that there may be an electronic setting that could be changed with a diagnostic readout box, or a gear on the transmission output for the speedometer signal could be replaced with a proper sized one. I would check at a dealer parts counter to see what sorts of adjustments are possible.
