Chrysler Repair: 03 stratus 2.4 auto: trans code 1790

Question
Have code P1790 , fluid ok , level good , no reverse gear . can this be a valve issue .

Answer
Hi Geoffrey,
That code is a speed error code (the input and output sensors don't agree that the ratio is appropriate for any one of the gears). It should have a second code stored with it, so if this was not found by means of a plug-in code reader I would suggest that you get such a readout at a nationwide auto parts store such as Autozone (often for free) or from an independent shop which likely will do it for under $40. Let me know that second code number.
There is a code for the reverse ratio being wrong (0736) and were that the case the best possibility would be something to do with the solenoid/pressure switch assembly which can be changed out without removing the transmission. Otherwise it involves removing the transmission to deal with the reverse clutch, etc.
But get the second number and I can tell you the possible causes.
Please read the PS below and respond to it.
Thanks,
Roland
