Chrysler Repair: 97 Sebring wont start, wd 40, don hi

Hi Roland please would you help me find the problem with my sebring I was having to low of an idling problem so i decided to check the distributor, after removing the cap and rotor button i removed a plastic cover and noticed a small amount of oil on it,I cleaned it of cleaned the rotor button and cap spark connections inside the cap,put all back together and started the car; after it ran for a few minutes it stalled out and won't start.any ideas THANKYOU

Is this the convertible or the coupe?
Do you hear the fuel pump run for about a second when you turn the key to the 'run' position?
Have you tried to see if the ignition key will give you fault codes? Turn it: "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then what the check engine light, which remains 'on', to see if it begins to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat the process to be sure of an accurate set of flash counts. Now '97 was perhaps the year when this approach to get the fault codes won't work and it requires a plug-in code reader, but give it a try.
Finally because you said it had an idle problem I would check the egr valve to be sure that its stem moves freely back and forth. Spray some WD-40 on the stem where it enters the valve body and then move the stem by means of the tip of a screwdriver inserted in the slot of the stem. Let me know if you can't find it, but tell me which engine you have. If the valve sticks slightly ajar then that causes a poor idle and even a no start.
I doubt it has anything to do with distributor but you could check that the rotor tip is electrically connected to the spring/button, and also check for spark while a helper cranks the engine over.
