Chrysler Repair: 2006 Chrysler Sebring Touring - Oxygen Sensor, 2006 chrysler sebring, chrysler sebring touring

Question
Good afternoon Kevin,

My emissions test shows I have a DTC P0138; which is a malfunction of the heated Oxygen Sensor (2) located rear of catalytic converter .

I would like to know how many O2 Sensors are in a 2006 Chrysler Sebring Touring and where is the catalytic converter located; under the hood or under the car? I know... I am totally ignorant about cars =)...

My engine light is on also... Once the O2 sensor is replaced, will the engine light turn off or would I have to reset the car by unplugging the cable from the battery?

Please help! Trying to pass my emissions test =(...

Thank you,

Corinna Griffin

Answer
Hi Corinna,
I just found your question in the pool. Can you tell me which engine (L) you have there?
Usually the codes will erase if you disconnect the battery but I am not certain if that is true in an '06 so give it a try. If you don't do that the light will eventually go off but it will take some number of trips for that to happen. The converter is the first item along the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold attached to the engine but the oxygen sensor is just after the converter so it would very likely be found from under the car.
