Chrysler Repair: code p1495, powertrain control module, fuel air mixture

Question
Hi Roland,
I own a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country mini van, recently My
engine light came on and my speed sensor stopped working. It
It also spits and sputters alot and then the enjine just dies, but when I shut it off for a few minutes it starts back up again. the code p1495 came up when checked on the diagnostic. Does thus mean that I need to replace the computer?

Answer
Hi Rebecca,
That would be the least likely cause of the problem. More likely it is the leak detection pump solenoid itself or its wiring. Here is the list of possible causes:
P1495-LEAK DETECTION PUMP SOLENOID CIRCUIT
When Monitored: Ignition on and battery voltage greater than 10.4 volts.
Set Condition: The state of the solenoid circuit does not match the PCM’s desired state.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
VEHICLE HISTORY AND SERVICE BULLETIN INVESTIGATION
GENERATOR SOURCE CIRCUIT OPEN
LEAK DETECTION PUMP SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
LDP SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
LEAK DETECTION PUMP
WIRING HARNESS INTERMITTENT
POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
The pump is accessed from underneath, located behind the engine on the left side of the rear frame rail. It has a gray/black 3-wire plug. If you would like to verify the circuit I can tell you how the wires from it connect to the computer plug. If those check out then replacing the leak detection pump is probably in order. It is part of the gasoiline vapor emission control system and in addition to the wires has some hoses attached to it. If there is a problem with the system it could well cause a problem with the fuel/air mixture ratio and thus the rough running of the engine.
