Chrysler Repair: trunk closing, 4 digit numbers, warranty papers

Question
yesterday we went to push the button on our 2009 Town and Country van's trunk automatic release and it went part way down and stopped. it makes a noise where the two hinges are and the nothing. When we push the button to make it go up it works fine. Can you help us.

Answer
I suggest you get a fault code readout, for free, at an Autozone or similar nationwide auto parts store. There may be a fault code stored in the memory of the body control module which will tell what is wrong. Let me know if you get any 4-digit numbers preceded by a B or any other prefix. Is there only one part that moves by power at the rear of the vehicle?
Also, it may be the case that the vehicle is still under warranty for this sort of problem and that a dealer will repair it at no cost. Check your warranty papers.
