Answer
Hi Anthony,
I am not clear about 'this little pink thing'. What/where is it, and when you pull it back do you mean it frees up the 'stuck in park' problem?
There is a shift interlock safety system which requires that you step on the brake pedal to shift from park to reverse. It may well be that there is a mis-adjustment of this system such that the conditions are not being met to allow you to shift out of park. There are about 8 pages in the '06 manual that describe the system and how to troubleshoot it. I can copy these off an '06 CD that I have and attach them to an email. I will need to know your email address to do that so if you would like the pages send me follow-up question but use the 'private option' and in that tell me your email address as I don't have access to it.
It may also be the case that the self-diagnostic capability of the computers has recognized this problem by storing a fault code in its memory. You can get a free fault code readoun at many nationwide autoparts stores, such as Autozone, so do that and find out any of the 4-digit fault code numbers that may be stored in the memories. Let me know and we can go from there.
