Chrysler Repair: 93 LeBaron Alarm Problem/Removal?, remote keyless entry, kick panel

Question
My daughter has an old LeBaron with the factory alarm system. We bought it used and without the key fob. The system has deteriorated over the last year to the point that it goes off almost every time she starts the thing. Sometimes she also has trouble getting the thing to disarm using the door key method, and this keeps it from starting as well. Unhooking the battery does nothing to help.

As a mechanical novice what is the easiest way to simply disarm the thing from sounding or killing her ignition? I don't care about removing the system if its a lot of work, I just worry about her being stranded somewhere at night. Thanks much.

Answer
Hi Steve,
Fortunately the system can be defeated by pulling the plug from the module that operates it. But it is very important to pull the plug ONLY WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. Otherwise it will go into a hard lock down and not start. I am not certain exactly where the module is located as through '92 model it is above the glove box, but the '93 wiring diagram places it on the 'right cowl' (the kick panel to the right of the passenger) but the '94 has it above the glove bos opening. The body computer is on that cowl also, just in front of the door opening at the lower corner so don't mistake that module for it. If you don't see another module there or elsewhere on the cowl, perhaps hidden behind the cloth covering the panel, then remove the glove box (many screws surrounding the opening) and above the opening you will see a transverse bracket on top of which would be the module. You remove some (3) screws to lower the bracket, then perhaps some screws on the smaller module for the remote keyless entry need to be removed if you have that feature, so as to get access the theft module plug. In any case the theft module has one plug, natural color, with 21 pins. Start the engine THEN pull its plug. That will end the hassle.
