Chrysler Repair: Radio out : 01 minivan, chrysler minivan, light fuse


Question
QUESTION: i replaced a dead battery and the am/fm cassete w seperate 4 disc cd stopped playing.
the three equalizer lights keep blinking when the radio is on or off position.
i removed the battery cables pos and neg. for one hour three times. no change.
i replaced interior light fuse. no change. how do i reset radio? i was able to reset the
speedometer.

ANSWER: I haven't heard of that problem, but tell me the year/make/model and if I have the manual I will see what it says.

Hi Robert,
I don't find any discussion of the symptom you describe. However be sure that both fuses 5 (20 amp) and 14 (15 amp) are good and verify as well that they both show 12v at both sides of fuse. The other 'reset' idea is to remove both clamps from the battery, then touch the clamps together for 30 seconds or more, then reconnect them to the battery. That will 'clear' any issues with the digital data bus system.
Other than that, the next step would be to go to the radio and verify that you have 12v on pins 1,2,14 of the 22-pin plug and also verify that pin 14 of that plug is connected to pin 2 of the diagnostic readout socket under the dash by the steering column.
