Chrysler Repair: cooling fan relay, 2007 T&C van, sheet metal screws, rivet tool

Question
I need to replace my cooling fan relay switch.  I own the part, but I just can't find where to replace it.  Can you help?

Answer
Hi Elizabeth,
If you mean the fan relay proper then that is located on the front bumper support, hidden behind the front grille.
To access it you remove the top panel located between the radiator and grille (screws at the outside ends, push-pins in between {lift center tab to release), and screws at the top edge of the grille). Once you have the panel off you can reach down, disconnect the plug, remove the rivets that hold it to the bumper support and then take it out. It is important to re-rivet the new relay to the bumper support as it needs good thermal contact so as to dissipate heat that it generates. So either use a rivet tool or sheet metal screws to re-fasten it to the bumper  support tightly. Historically Chrysler had so many of these fail in the latter '90's that they did a recall. You might want to check for that possibility and if so let them do the work! If not you should be able to do-it-yourself.
