Chrysler Repair: 98 gr. caravan vent windows, vent windows, master switch

Question
hi roland, i can't seem to find an answer for this.
both of my vent windows are not working.
they stopped at different time periods. what is usually the fix to get these working again? is there anything i can check? out of curiosity, are there any fuses for the windows, or breakers? i can't find any reference to this....thanx so much for your time....debbie

Answer
Hi Debbie,
There is a common power supply for all 4 power windows so if any of them work that power source is not the issue. The possibilities are: the switch contacts in the master switch are oxidized or dirty, the motor at each window is defective, the wiring between the master and each motor is defective. To remove the master switch: gently pry up cover that conceals screws that hold the power switch panel to the door trim panel, then remove the screws, then remove the switch. You could try spraying some electrical contact cleaner inside the switch through any accessible cracks or opening to see if that corrects it. If not, then unplug the switch and check whether you get electrically continuity between pins 11 and 7 when pressing left vent open, 9 and 3 left vent close, 9 and 1 right vent open, 11 and 5 right vent close. The numbers are shown on the plug. If that checks out then you have to remove the rear (D) pillar cover on each side and test whether the voltage is getting to the motor, and also to test the function of the motor. Let me know and I can tell you the details for those removals.
