Question
QUESTION: heater controles don't work rite on a 2000 intrepid

ANSWER: Two questions: is this an ATC (Automatic Temp. Control or standard type control)?
         please describe in what way it doesn't work right.

QUESTION: I beleve it is standard. Fan works grate hot cold dose nothing. Derectional controle defrost only then in middle hot turns to cold.a/c  don't work or the rear defrost

Hi Mark,
You could check whether fuse 17 in the fuse box hidden behind the cap on the left end of the dash might be blown as it powers the logic of the heater/AC control panel needed for directional and temp control functioning.
Once you get control of the temperature warmth setting you might try the AC and if it still doesn't work then check fuse 21 in the same fuse box and fuse B in the box in the engine compartment. If those are ok, then probably you are low on refrigerant in the AC system.
On the rear defogger, once you get control of the temperature control again, try the rear defogger and if it doesn't work then chech fuse A in the box in the engine compartment. If that is ok and it still doesn't work then see if the rear window defogger relay located behind the carpeting in the left trunk area clicks when a helper turns on the rear defogger. We can go from there depending on a click or not.
