Chrysler Repair: electrical problem, 2008 chrysler 300, keyless start

Question
QUESTION: Yesterday, my car doors and trunk on a 2008 Chrysler 300, would not open using the keyless remote.  I used the key to open the door and then started it with the keyless remote.  None of the gauges would work, speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, etc, The mileage light remained on but the mileage reading never changed as I drove the car.  The interior lights and outside lights remained on even though the switches were turned off inside the car.  The radio and driver’s side window worked.  The AC light would not come on; the AC blew, but just hot air.  The dealership did not know what was wrong.  They indicated the dash odometer did not go off overnight and the battery was low in the morning.  They fully charged the battery and cleared all codes, and the electronics returned to normal.  They cannot state it is fixed because they say they’ve never experienced this type of problem before.

ANSWER: Although the problem is unusual, I haven't come across one like it yey, this is a problem that any reputable dealer sould have been able to diagnose, given enough time and information. Does everything operate normally when using the key to start the vehicle? Does the car have a factory or dealer installed remote start? Keyless start? I don't believe that was available for the year vehicle.

QUESTION: To answer your questions:  Yes, it now operates normally using the key to start the vehicle. (As you know, the key is not an actual key, but the end of the wireless remote.)   There were no problems prior to yesterday and none in the 26 mile drive home from the dealership tonight.  There is no remote or keyless start on the vehicle. The mechanic provided us with the codes and description they read from the computer, but it still didn't explain to him why it did this or how to fix it.  They just hoped resetting the comptuer and recharging the battery would work.  Any additional information on items to check would be apprecaited, as I live in a rural area and don't like the idea of another malfunction when on the road miles from any town.  Thank you.

Answer
Without knowing any of the diagnostic codes that were set, I'm  in the dark as to how to proceed. You may have an issue with the vehicle configuration or a problem in the Wireless Control Module, which is also the ignition switch. Next time you're at the dealer have them atleast check those two things.
