Chrysler Repair: 99 Chrysler LHS Cooling fan issues, 99 chrysler lhs, chrysler lhs

Question
My 99 LHS cooling fan and ac stopped working and after reading post online it says there were problems with the fan control module. where is this module? I am a little lost because after doing a search for FAN MODULE I get nothing online. Is it the whole fan assembly? Or should I be looking for a different source of the problem.

Answer
Hi Trey,
The fans are activated by either a low speed relay or a high speed relay located in the power box under the hood on the driver side. There is no other fan control module. The fans will come on low or high speed depending on coolant temperature and also depending upon the pressure of the ac reftrigerant in the system.
If you are certain that the fans aren't operating when they should be the first thing to check would be fuse 21 in the box that is located behing the left end cap of the dash. That fuse is resposible for activating the fan relays AND the AC compressor clutch.
If the engine is overheating with or without the AC being requested it will be necessary to address the issue of why that is the case. It could  be that the temperature sensor is not working properly if fuse 21 is OK. If the AC compressor won't run then that could be an issue with the amount of refrigerant in the system, independent of the fan issue. I don't believe the AC compressor will not be activiated because it senses a problem with the fans not operating. So there are some uncertainty and complexity in this situation. But start with fuse 21.
