Chrysler Repair: 2006 chrysler sebring, chrysler sebring, butterfly valve

Question
I have a 06 sebring with the 2.4 dohc. When I am driving with steady pressure on the gas pedal
the engine drops rpm for like a split second then goes back to normal. Like for example when on the
highway running about 70mph the car sits about 1500 rpm then for no reason it drops to 1000rpm then back to 1500 again. Im not putting any extra pressure on the gas and it just does that. Also when
I start the car in the morning to warm up the idle surges up and down till its warm. Not sure if the problems are related or not but just incase. Other than these problems the car runs fine. Any help would be appreciated

Answer
Diagnosing an intermittent problem such as yours with the vehicle present can be challenging at best. Duplicating it and then identifying the cause is the most important part of diagnosing the problem. That being said, I'll do what I can on-line. Other than the RPM drop that you see on the tach, does the car do anything else like stumble, jerk or buck when the RPM's drop? Also, have you taken the car anywhere to be checked out? If so, what was their results or actions taken to fix your problem? The surge that the engine has on start-up is probably not related. That is more than likely a result of a dirty throttle body butterfly valve.
