QuestionQUESTION: when i start car in jumps up to 4000 rpm's if i put it into gear it jumps so high i got to shut down,turned key on off 5 time no code, but when i did it 11 times or 15 times i got 2 codes first was p-0123 2nd was p-1684.do i take power from battery to reset?thank you tom
ANSWER: From you description it sounds like you have a fairly large vacuum leak from a broken hose or a stuck throttle blade. Check for those things first. Otherwise I'll need to know the Year, Make, Model and Engine Size in order to help you with your problem

QUESTION: hi Russell(sorry)1998 Chrysler concord 3.2 has 170,000 miles on it. Thanks for a fast reply.i've checked all vacuum lines didn't see or fill a leak but i could hear one(didn't know if it was from engine)i pulled all of them and replaced sensor throttle positio and intake manifold gasket.I don't know what a throttle plate is right now going to look in book for that,when i took sensor out i see that someone broke the bolts off to it and use some type of plastic to hold it down.do you know if it has a ground where it bolted down?my mother got this car and every where she took it to they told her something else.thank you so much,Tom
AnswerSince you have found a broken part, the screw for the TPS, I'd suspect that whomever replace the TPS may have installed it incorrectly. An incorrectly installed sensor would send the wrong value to the PCM and could be the cause of the high idle. Either purchase a new throttle body or try to find a used one from a junk yard.
