Chrysler Repair: transmission code 1768, solenoid pack, fuel pump relay

Question
my 2000 chrys.t&c went into limp mode changed fluid & filter now codes p0700 & p1768 come up on obd.its a 3.8 eng.

Answer
Hi Danny,
That 1768 says that the transmission control relay is not sending voltage to the solenoid pack even though it is being asked to. It may well be that the relay activates but the points themselves are too oxidized/corroded to conduct current. There are likely to be several non-critical relays in the lower part of the fuse box under the dash that have the same part number as that of the transaxle control relay so you could try one of those in place of the trans control relay (the two other identical relays along with the trans relay in the main box are the ASD and the fuel pump relay so don't switch out those or perhaps the engine won't start) to see if that solves the problem. If so, then buy a new relay. If that doesn't solve it, then the wiring between the relay and the tranc control module will need to be checked. Let me know if that is the case.
Before you do anything, though, check that fuse 15 in the power box where the relay is also located is not blown as that too would produce the same code.

PS The 0700 just means that there is another specific transmission code store in the memory (e.g. the 1768).
