Chrysler Repair: caravan ignition, dodge caravan, starter problem

Question
QUESTION: Hi Russell,
2001 Dodge Caravan 3.3L
Ignition key turns all the way and car won't start. Key is never stuck, but need to turn it real hard as far as I can for it to work. Started happening a while back and getting worse. Battery is good. Thanks in advance for your help.

ANSWER: I'll assume that when you turn the key to the run position that you have normal function of the cluster and any accessories. I'd be inclined to replace the ignition switch from the way you describe the past history.

QUESTION: Thanks for your answer. Yes, normal cluster function.
May I add that there is a noticeable click heard outside the van from the motor (starter) area when the key is turned to start. Sounds like a relay, would this additional info still point to the ignition switch?
Sorry for not mentioning this right away, thanks again for your timely help.

Answer
If you are hearing a click from the engine compartment, then I think we can rule out the ignition switch. If you can get someone to help you, have them turn the key to the start position while you listen for the click outside. If it's coming from down low on the engine you're looking at a starter problem. That said, I'd still have someone look at the switch, you shouldn't have to turn it that hard.
