Chrysler Repair: chrysler 300 M special transmission shifting, chrysler 300m, chrysler 300

Question
Is their a way to prevent my chrysler 300M from shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear.  I drive this car on a race track and would like to maximize my power band.  Thank you

Answer
Hi Tim,
I am fairly certain that if you pull out the transmission relay, or instead if you modify the circuit so as to be able to defeat the relay by cutting power to the actuation coil at will, then the trans will only run in 2nd gear. It is a ' limp mode' that is designed to come into play when a fault is detected in the transmission and its purpose is to use the least number of parts when there is a problem that requires attention. So that is the easiest way to get it to stay in second. But that would also take out first, thus my suggestion would be to have a switch which cuts the power to the relay when the shift from first to second has occured and then it won't shift up to third. That way you could start in first and then lock it up in second (and reverse would still be available as well).
