Chrysler Repair: ABS/Trac Control, 1999 chrysler concorde, chrysler concorde

Question
Hello I have a 1999 Chrysler Concorde and all last summer my ABS/Trac fault light came on after just a few feet of driving.  During the winter months it stopped doing it and both the ABS and Trac control worked great, now as it started to get into spring type weather it's not starting to act up again.  Not sure why but from what I can find out it most likely the ABS module that's acting up.  Any idea's why only in the warmer weather this is happening and if you could point me in the right direction of where the module is in the car and how to get it off..  Thanks
Bill

Answer
Hello Bill, I would not condemn the ABS controller without having a proper diagnosis performed first. I haven't seen any of these controllers fail the way you've described. I'd be more inclined to think there is a wiring issue at the controller or one of the wheel speed sensors. You may have water or corrosion interfering with the signals. Especially if you live in a snowbelt area. Getting to the wheel speed sensor connectors is easy enough, just follow the wire back from where the sensor mounts on the wheel hub and you'll find a connector. Undo the connector and inspect the wire terminals, they should be dry and shiny. Getting to the controller wiring is a bit more challenging. It's located in the left front fender area. You'll have to remove the speed control servo, washer bottle filler neck and transmission controller to gain access to it. Again, check for water or corrosion. If none are found then it might be time to have it professionally checked. Any problems that would turn the warning lamps on will generate a fault code that will indicate which component has a problem. Hope this all helps in some way.
