Chrysler Repair: Axle or Wheel Bearing Issue?, lebaron gtc, chrysler lebaron

Question
I have a 94' Chrysler Lebaron GTC. While driving one day, stopped at a red light it felt as tho the car settled slightly on the right front side of the car and I heard a creaking or crunching sound at the same time. I had to replace the front left axel last year. I was thinking its the front right axel and someone else thinks it could be the wheel bearing on the right front side. It makes a slight grinding sound when I turn the steering wheel all the way left but never when I turn it all the way right. If I drive on rough road it can cause the left tire to shimmy some or bounce slightly. So what do you think?

Answer
Hi Jennifer,
Wheel bearings usually 'roar' or 'howl' even when going straight down the road. Because you say the clicking noises occur when you turn the wheel full left (or to either side) I think that you probably have a cv joint on the right side axle that has a cracked boot, has lost its grease, and that is what is wrong. But you can tell that by looking under the car just behind the right wheel to see what the boot looks like and whether there are signs of grease on the nearby chassis parts directly above the boot ares.
