Chrysler Repair: Eclipse backfire, gas fumes, exhaust gas

Question
Ok... now me and some friends were standing outside and we just let it run for about 30 mins and then the car caught on fire and the ground did too! so if my converer is clogged up or messed up will than make my car backfire?

Answer
I loose honeycomb inside the catalytic converter can cause an obstruction (partial) to the flow of exhaust gas which can then cause the overheating of the converter and no doubt some sort of a possible build up of gas fumes which can backfire. It might have been abetted by a defective fuel/air ratio due to one of several possible sensors. You might do well to do a code readout of the engine control module to see if it has in its memory any codes that would be relevant to know and to correct.
