Chrysler Repair: 2002 Sebring Solenoid Pack, solenoid pack, solenoid

Question
Hi Roland,

My 2002 Sebring Convertible 2.7L had devloped a leak of transmission fluid. The dealer diagnoses it as coming from the solenoid pack. I agree. The transmission is shifting perfectly so it seems a waste to me to replace the solenoid pack and not simply its gasket. What am I missing?

Thanks for your help/

Answer
I suppose it could be a damaged pack, but if you look over the pack (once you remove its cover) and don't see a leak other than around the base of then I would believe that it is leaking at the interface between the back and the transmission housing. It just be that one or more of the bolts that secure the pack need to be torqued properly. I assume that on an '02 the pack is external hidden under a box-like cover. If otherwise, let me know.
