Auto Insurance Claims: Gave a wrong statement?, minor accident, vehicle owner

Question
Hi I was involved in a minor accident, I was in a middle lane while the other driver was on the left next to me. We both switched lanes and my left back side hit her front right corner bumper. When her insurance company called me, they asked me what I did, I told them I merged to the left lane and bumped into her, I didnt tell them that she was switching lanes either, and now Im at fault I think. Is there anyway to do another statement with her insurance company? Also I have not contacted my insurance company and there was no police report. If it is my fault is there a way I can pay her insurance company the quote for her damages without contacting my insurance?

Answer
Hi Francis,

You can call the insurance company and tell them you want to amend your statement. However, it is my experience they will not accept it. You can ask them to provide you with the repair estimates to see if it is an amount that you may want to pay out of pocket. You should get the other vehicle owner to sign a release form in exchange for your payment.

I hope this helps
