Chrysler Repair: 01 Chrysler Voyager: trans codes 0732/0736/1787, solenoid pack, chrysler voyager

Question
I am getting several transmission codes: P0736,P0732,P1787 and P0700. I need to know is there a common fix to these so that if I fix one it may resolve the issues on the other codes. The van is only has 1 , 2 , & reverse. Can you help me?

Answer
Hi Eric,
The 0700 is an overall alert, saying there are specific fault codes in the trans controller memory. The not driving above 2nd gear is a self-defensive strategy which the trans does when specific fault codes are set, and that is called 'limp-in' mode.
A possible common cause for the other 3 is low/high fluid level in the trans, so check for that.
The other codes, particularly the 1787 and 0732 coule be that there is a malfunction in the solenoid pack/pressure switch assembly.
The 0736 may indicate a slipping reverse clutch/lo-reverse seal leakage which are all re-build requiring issues but it also could be due to a speed sensor problem though neither sensor's individual code has been set, or to a valve body problem which is repairable without removing the transmission. I don't see it to be necessarily related to the 0732 or 1787.
My inclination would be to replace the solenoid/pressure switch assembly (after first verifying there is no visible damage to the wiring harnesses of the trans) and hope that such a replacement will do the trick. The assembly is in the box on the side of the transmission and is not complicated to replace yourself. You can cancel the codes by disconnecting the battery briefly and see which come back (except that disconnecting the battery will cause a 1792 so ignore that).
