Chrysler Repair: 07 grand caravan 3.8l alternator removal, grand caravan, splash shield

Question
I have taken off belt and all bolts but i can not remove alternator from engine

Answer
Hi Thomas,
The 'trick' appears to be that you have to remove the oil dipstick tube. From underneath (or if you already have the right front wheel off and the splash shield for the wheelwell taken off for access to the belt) you will see a bolt near the oil filter that secures the dipstick tube to the block. Then go back up top and remove the other screws that hold that tube in place. That should give you the clearance to roll the alternator out from its position. Reverse the procedure when installing.
You might want to put in the upper alternator bolts when you begin the install and then the dipstick and its upper dipstick screw, and the alternator wires; then when you are working through the wheelwell opening put in the lower alternator bolt and the lower bolt for the dipstick tube. Finally do the belt and then the splash shield.
This procedure is suggested in the '06 manual which is the newest one that I have.
