Chrysler Repair: commonality of seat parts?:different year models?, plymouth voyager, rear attachment

Question
I own a '97 Plymouth Voyager. I have the opportunity to acquire the 2nd row seat of a '96 Grand Voyager. Will this work in my car?

Answer
Hi Macy,
I am not certain, so my suggestion would be to contact a Chrysler Dealer and speak with the parts counter-person who will be able to tell you if the seat you are thinking about will indeed fit in your minivan. I only have the '95 and '98 manuals so I have no chance of giving you an absolutely reliable answer. The chances are good that it will but if you can't return it then see if the seat is listed as having the same part number in both vehicles.
The mechanical design of the riser (the part that attaches the seat base frame to the floor) appears similar between '95 and '98 manuals, but you would want to verify that the lateral separation between the mountings for the two risers and the separation between the front and rear attachment points of each riser is also identical between the two seats in question. If they will mount to the floor identically then I would believe they are interchangeable.
