Question
I have just replaced the Tcm and Pcm wiring harnesses.I have a code p0731 kicking back to the obdII but no MIL light on. can you help? I have done a fresh fluid and filter change and solenoid pack replacement.

Answer
Hi Terrance,
There are a plethora of internal transmission problems that could cause this speed ratio error in first gear. Just for background, an I correct in assuming that the trans defaults to second gear only function, so called limp-in mode?
About the only two other lower cost possibilities are that one or the other speed sensor is faulty (or faulty speed sensor wiring), or there could be a problem in the valve body (which can be serviced without removing the transmission). It would be worth it to replace the speed sensor, probably the input if the speedometer seems to to work reliably (which is operated by the output speed sensor) to begin. Then if that doesn't work, do the output sensor. and if that doesn't work then remove and checkout the valve body.
Beyond that involves removal and finding out what is wrong with clutches, etc.
